AHI Uganda organizes the Bible Distribution Program as a faith-integrated initiative under its broader character change and leadership development efforts. This program aligns with the NGO’s commitment to spiritual and ethical growth, drawing on partnerships with Christian networks like the Zoe Church Network. It aims to distribute Bibles and related Scriptures to underserved communities, promoting moral guidance, resilience, and community cohesion in line with Uganda’s predominantly Christian context (over 80% of the population identifies as Christian).
Objectives
Spiritual Empowerment: Provide access to the Bible for individuals and groups who lack personal copies, especially in low-income, rural, or institutional settings, to inspire hope, forgiveness, and ethical decision-making.
Character Building: Integrate Bible study with mindset change campaigns to reduce behaviors linked to poverty, violence, or disease (e.g., HIV/AIDS prevention).
Community Outreach: Target vulnerable populations, including children, youth, inmates, and families, to foster peace and productivity.
Inclusivity: Distribute in local languages (e.g., Luganda, Ateso) where possible, partnering with entities like the Bible Society of Uganda for resources.
Target Beneficiaries
Inmates and Prison Communities: Through the Prison Outreach program, Bibles are distributed to support rehabilitation, reintegration, and trauma healing.
Youth and Children: In schools and child sponsorship initiatives, to instill values and break poverty cycles.
Women and Uniformed Personnel: Via leadership conferences, where Bibles aid in applying scriptural principles to roles in security forces, pastoral work, or entrepreneurship.
Refugees and Marginalized Groups: In collaboration with partners, extending to refugee settlements or urban poor areas.
Activities and Implementation
Distribution Drives: Free or subsidized Bible handouts during events, church services, school visits, and prison sessions. For example, during annual leadership conferences, participants receive copies for personal study.
Integration with Other Programs:
Linked to Mindset Change Campaigns, where Bible reading groups discuss themes like compassion and empowerment.
Part of Educate and Mercy Bag Campaigns, bundling Bibles with school supplies or basic needs kits.
Supported by US-Based Practical Entrepreneurship Classes, where faith-based motivation from Scriptures encourages business ethics.
Partnerships: Works with the Bible Society of Uganda for sourcing affordable Bibles in multiple formats (print, audio). Recent collaborations (e.g., with Sunrise Centre Canada since December 2024) enhance distribution in education-focused projects.
Monitoring and Impact: Follow-up sessions track engagement, with qualitative feedback showing improved community harmony and personal testimonies of transformation.
Impact and Achievements (as of 2025)
Over 5,000 Bibles distributed since program inception in 2015, with a surge in 2024–2025 through expanded prison and school outreaches.
Contributed to a 20% reported increase in participant engagement in character-building workshops, per internal evaluations.
Aligned with national goals like Uganda’s Vision 2040 for moral and spiritual development, while addressing SDGs 4 (Education) and 5 (Gender Equality).
